 The Village of Hillsborough is located on the banks of the Petitcodiac River, approximately 30 kilometers south of the city of Moncton and close to Hopewell Rocks and Fundy National Park. Since its incorporation in 1966, the village’s population has increased by 84% - from 693 residents to 1,292 residents in 2006. Residents and visitors alike can enjoy the Salem and Hillsborough Railroad Inc., the Honorable William Henry Steeves House Museum. Birdwatching opportunities abound in the village trail system, which goes through wetlands, marshes, and abandoned quarries. Hillsborough’s economic base is mixed with the following sectors employing the majority of residents: business services, health and education, wholesale and retail trade, manufacturing and construction industries. In terms of building activity over the last ten years, one or two lots have been created in the village per year.
